Shiba Inu (SHIB), a prominent dog-themed meme coin, boasts one of the largest online communities in the cryptocurrency space. While this signifies a thriving ecosystem, it also attracts hackers who aim to scam users out of their funds.

Due to these threats, the SHIB team frequently issues warnings and urges their community to stay vigilant. Recently, LUCIE, the project's marketing lead, took to Twitter to remind users that one of the tokens planned for issuance is not yet live.

The warning addresses a common scam tactic where perpetrators create fake tokens using the same ticker as the original. These scammers develop convincing assets mimicking the legitimate project, create fake usernames and accounts on X (formerly Twitter), and establish fake groups on Telegram and other social channels. Their goal is to lure people into fake presales or buying counterfeit tokens, only to execute a rug-pull scam afterward.

Stay Vigilant

Always be aware that scammers are constantly looking for opportunities to deceive you. Employ the best practices when interacting with various crypto projects to safeguard your investments.
